Este trabajo propone algunos elementos para desarrollar programas de postgrado en geografía en el área de las ciencias sociales críticas. Se discute la noción de espacio geográfico que ha dominado el quehacer académico en Latinoamérica, enfatizando las limitantes de una aproximación meramente física al espacio. Para avanzar hacia la formación de cuadros académicos más preparados para enfrentar los desafíos del mundo contemporáneo, el autor sugiere avanzar sobre tres áreas interrelacionadas del conocimiento: problematizar la noción de espacio, la geografía del poder y la ordenación del territorio.

This paper suggests some elements for the development of graduate programs in geography in the field of critical social science. It discusses the notion of geographic space that has been dominant in the academic work done in Latin America, emphasizing the limits of an approach that considers only the physical dimension of space. In order to better prepare academic groups to face the challenge of a contemporary world, the author proposes to work in three interrelated areas of knowledge: rethinking the notion of space, the geography of power and territorial management.
