Style Sheet
**
is a scholarly, peer-reviewed geographical online journal. With the exception of invited papers, articles submitted to will be forwarded to members of the Editorial Board or other reviewers for comment. Contributors are required to provide a cover letter affirming that the manuscript will not be submitted elsewhere while it is being read by the journal's reviewers. If there is need for revision, the manuscript will be returned to the lead author. Two hard copies of the manuscript and an electronic soft copy must be submitted, written in clear Spanish, English or Portuguese in the active voice and third person, and formatted according to this style sheet. Papers should be adequately referenced and carefully edited before being submitted. Manuscripts departing from the style prescribed by the journal will not be reviewed.
Format**

Normally, manuscripts should not exceed 6,500 words and should be double-spaced with left margin set at 2.5 cm.; right margin not justified. Notes and references are to be typed at the end of the paper. Please send the digital version in a 3.5 inch PC format, preferably as a MS Word file. Please save the main body of the article and each of the peripheral parts as separate files.
Title Page: There should be a title page that includes the full names of the authors and their professional or academic affiliations along with their mailing addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail addresses.
Abstract: The paper should be accompanied by an abstract submitted on a separate page and one paragraph not to exceed 200 words. Appropriate key words should be added at the end.
Notes: If notes are necessary, keep them to a minimum. Notes are explanatory to the text and should not be confused with references, which are bibliographic in nature. Notes should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals entered in the text in superscript. Please, avoid using automatic footnoting. On a separate sheet of paper submit the text of all Notes introduced in the main body of the article.
References: The journal uses the Harvard method of citation. Consequently, references should be introduced in the text by inserting within parentheses the surname(s) of the author(s) cited and the year of the work's publication, e.g. (Harvey 1999). Citations for the same author(s) in the same year must be distinguished by a, b, etc., after the year (Brunn 2001b). More than one citation at the point in the text should be separated by a semicolon (Brunn 2001b; Lepenies 1999; Yapa 1996). Page numbers should only be used in the text for direct quotations, separated from the year by a colon (Hettner 1927: 30).
On a separate sheet under the title "References," submit a full list of citations organized in alphabetical order by the surname of the lead author, and chronologically within each author's group. Only sources cited in the text are to be included in this list. Titles of publications and editorial information should be given in full. Please, adhere to the following examples, or check reference lists of articles published in the journal:

Line drawings, half-tones and photographs must be clean, high-quality originals to be accepted for publication. Each illustration should have a number and a caption. Captions are to be typed on a separate sheet of paper, with clear indication of their placement in the text.

**Estilo Editorial **

, una revista geográfica electrónica, publica artículos científicos seleccionados por pares académicos. A excepción de textos invitados, los artículos remitidos a **** serán asignados para revisión a miembros del Consejo Editorial o a otros examinadores. A los autores se les solicita declarar por escrito que el manuscrito no será enviado a otro seriado mientras se adelante el proceso de selección por . En caso de que los examinadores recomienden alguna revisión del manuscrito, éste será devuelto para lo pertinente al primer autor nombrado en la página titular. El manuscrito debe presentarse en dos copias en formato carta, más una versión electrónica, redactado en forma clara en cualquiera de los idiomas español, inglés o portugués, utilizando la voz activa y en tercera persona. Debe ser elaborado de acuerdo con el estilo que se recomienda en estas instrucciones. Antes de su envío a la revista, los manuscritos deben ser respaldados con suficientes referencias bibliográficas y cuidadosamente revisados y corregidos por sus autores. Los manuscritos que no se ajusten al estilo prescrito por la revista no podrán ser considerados para evaluación.

Formato**
**
Normalmente los manuscritos no excederán de 6.500 palabras. Deberán ser escritos a doble espacio, con márgen izquierdo 2.5 cm., sin justificación. Las notas y referencias se incluirán al final del artículo. Se recomienda enviar la versión digital en un disquete de 3.5 pulgadas en formato PC, preferiblemente compuesta como un archivo de MS Word. El cuerpo principal del artículo y cada una de sus partes periféricas (página titular, notas, referencias, etc.) se grabarán en el disco como archivos separados.
Página Titular. Por separado, se debe elaborar una página titular que incluya los nombres completos de los autores y sus afiliaciones profesionales o académicas, lo mismo que sus direcciones postales, números de teléfono y fax, y dirección e-mail.
Resumen. Cada artículo debe acompañarse de un resumen, presentado como un solo párrafo de no más de 200 palabras, en página separada. Al final del resumen se incluirán epígrafes (palabras claves) apropiadas.
Notas. El número de notas, si de veras se necesitan, debe restringirse al mínimo posible. Las notas cumplen una función explicativa adicional del texto y no deben confundirse con las referencias, cuya naturaleza es esencialmente bibliográfica. Las notas deben enumerarse de manera consecutiva mediante números arábigos sobrescritos en el texto. Se solicita desechar la introducción automática de notas. El texto de todas las notas introducidas en el cuerpo principal del trabajo se deberá presentar en página y archivo separados.
Referencias. La revista utiliza el método de citación Harvard. En consecuencia, las citas deben introducirse en la parte pertinente del texto insertando entre paréntesis el nombre del autor o autores citados y el año de publicación de la fuente, por ejemplo (Harvey 1999). Las citaciones del mismo autor en un mismo año deben distinguirse claramente con los sufijos a, b, etc., después del año (Brunn 2001b). Más de una citación puntual en el texto deberá separarse por punto y coma (Brunn 2001a; Lepenies 1999; Yapa 1996). La citación de números de página solo debe utilizarse en el texto para citas directas (textuales o parafrásticas), separadas del año por dos puntos (Hettner 1927: 30).
En página separada y bajo el título "Referencias", se debe enviar la lista completa de citaciones, organizada alfabéticamente por el apellido del autor que encabeza la fuente citada y cronológicamente dentro del grupo de cada autor. Únicamente deben incluirse en la lista fuentes citadas en el texto. Los títulos de las publicaciones y la información editorial deben escribirse completos. Se recomienda, por favor, adherir al estilo de los siguientes ejemplos o al del utilizado en artículos publicados en esta revista:

Para que sean aceptados para publicación, los dibujos en línea, medios-tonos y fotografías deben ser originales nítidos y de alta calidad. Cada ilustración debe indentificarse con un número y una leyenda. Las leyendas de todas las figuras incluidas deben presentarse en hoja y archivo separados, con clara indicación marginal sobre su ubicación en el texto.
